In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for about 5 minutes.
Place the burger patties in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching. Cook for 12 minutes for medium doneness, flipping them halfway through the cooking time.
About 2 minutes before they are done, add a slice of cheese on top of each patty. Close the air fryer to melt the cheese.
Once cooked, remove the patties from the air fryer and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
Toast the burger buns in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes if desired.
Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun and adding your choice of toppings and condiments.
