Equipment

  • 1 air fryer
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 grater or food processor
  • 1 tongs or spatula
  • 1 parchment paper optional

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes About 1.5 pounds.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  • Peel the potatoes and grate them using a box grater or food processor. Rinse the grated potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch.
  • Drain the grated potatoes in a colander and press out as much moisture as possible with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the drained grated potatoes, salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and olive oil. Mix well until the potatoes are evenly coated with the seasonings.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  • If desired, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper for easier cleanup. Spread the potato mixture evenly in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, use tongs or a spatula to flip the hash browns to ensure even cooking.
  • Cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until the hash browns are golden and crispy.
  • Once cooked, remove the hash browns and let them cool slightly before serving. Top with optional toppings if desired.

Notes

For a different flavor, try adding shredded cheese or diced bell peppers to the potato mix before cooking.
Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket; cooking in smaller batches will yield better results.
Store leftover hash browns in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the air fryer to regain crispiness.
