Equipment

  • 1 air fryer
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 salad spinner or towel

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch kale About 8 ounces.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Optional.
  • 1 teaspoon nutritional yeast Optional for cheesy flavor.

Instructions

  • Start by washing the kale thoroughly. Remove the tough stems and tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
  • Use a salad spinner or towel to dry the kale leaves completely, as excess moisture will prevent them from becoming crispy.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted olive oil, sea salt, garlic powder, and nutritional yeast (if using).
  • Add the dried kale leaves to the bowl and toss until the leaves are evenly coated with the oil and seasoning mixture.
  • Place the kale in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Set the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook for about 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on the chips to prevent burning.
  • Once they are crispy and slightly browned, remove the kale chips from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover kale chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days for the best texture.
Feel free to experiment with different seasonings to customize the flavor according to your preference.
For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.
