Start by freezing the mozzarella sticks for about 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape during cooking.
Set up your breading station: Place the flour in one shallow bowl, whisk the eggs in another bowl, and mix together the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
Take each frozen mozzarella stick, roll it in the flour until coated, then dip it in the egg and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the cheese stick to ensure they stick well.
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a plate and spray them lightly with cooking spray.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
Once preheated, arrange the mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch each other. You may need to cook them in batches.
Cook for 6-8 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Shake the basket halfway through for even cooking.
Carefully remove the mozzarella sticks using tongs and serve immediately with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
