Instructions

  • Warm your skillet over medium heat. Butter one side of each bread slice if using butter.
  • Put one slice of bread butter side down in the skillet. Sprinkle grated cheddar evenly over it.
  • Lay ham slice on top of the cheese, covering the whole bread.
  • Spread a thin layer of apple butter on the other bread slice and put it on top, butter side up.
  • Crack egg gently into a small bowl and add a few drops of white vinegar to keep it neat.
  • Slide the egg into the skillet next to your sandwich and cook until the white is set and yolk is as desired.
  • Cook the sandwich about 3 to 4 minutes each side until the bread is golden and cheese is melted.
  • Remove sandwich and egg from heat. Slice sandwich in half if desired and serve warm.
  • Enjoy this hearty and comforting breakfast sandwich!

Notes

Optional: Butter the bread in the skillet for extra crunch. Store sandwiches wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or foil for up to 3 days in the fridge or freeze for longer storage.
