Instructions
Warm your skillet over medium heat. Butter one side of each bread slice if using butter.
Put one slice of bread butter side down in the skillet. Sprinkle grated cheddar evenly over it.
Lay ham slice on top of the cheese, covering the whole bread.
Spread a thin layer of apple butter on the other bread slice and put it on top, butter side up.
Crack egg gently into a small bowl and add a few drops of white vinegar to keep it neat.
Slide the egg into the skillet next to your sandwich and cook until the white is set and yolk is as desired.
Cook the sandwich about 3 to 4 minutes each side until the bread is golden and cheese is melted.
Remove sandwich and egg from heat. Slice sandwich in half if desired and serve warm.
Enjoy this hearty and comforting breakfast sandwich!
Notes
Optional: Butter the bread in the skillet for extra crunch. Store sandwiches wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or foil for up to 3 days in the fridge or freeze for longer storage.
