Equipment

  • 1 9-inch pie plate
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 oven

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips Optional for extra texture.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate and crimp the edges. Pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and set aside to cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the unsweetened cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until well combined.
  • Add the melted butter, then whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  • If using, fold in the chocolate chips gently with a rubber spatula.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the pre-baked pie crust and spread it evenly using the spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out with a few moist crumbs, but not wet batter.
  • Allow the pie to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent treat.
The pie can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
