1 measuring spoons
1 plastic wrap or airtight container for storage
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup dried cherries, chopped
- ½ cup dark rum For a non-alcoholic version, substitute with cherry juice or a flavored syrup.
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup chocolate sprinkles For coating.
In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder. Mix well until there are no lumps.
Add the chopped dried cherries, dark rum, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Stir until everything is well combined. The mixture should be moist enough to hold together.
Refrigerate the mixture for about 15 minutes to make it easier to handle.
Once chilled, use your hands to roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Place them on a cookie sheet or tray lined with parchment paper.
Roll each ball in chocolate sprinkles to coat them evenly. Place them back on the tray after coating.
Allow the rum balls to set in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
For a non-alcoholic version, you can substitute rum with cherry juice or a flavored syrup.
Feel free to add chopped nuts or other dried fruits to the mixture for variety.
These rum balls are best served chilled.
