Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips using a rubber spatula until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with the spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center has set.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Once cool, cut into squares and enjoy!
