Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 spoon or spatula
  • optional toothpicks or skewer

Ingredients

  • 12 large ripe strawberries Ensure they are completely dry to avoid seizing the chocolate.
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips Or your choice of chocolate.
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil Optional for smoother chocolate.
  • as desired toppings Optional: chopped nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut.

Instructions

  • Wash the strawberries under cool running water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Ensure they are completely dry to avoid seizing the chocolate.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and vegetable oil (if using). Heat in the microwave on medium power for 30 seconds. Stir, then heat for an additional 30 seconds. Repeat until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth, being careful not to overheat.
  • Hold each strawberry by the green stem or use a toothpick/skewer, and dip it into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip off.
  • Place the dipped strawberry on the lined baking sheet. If you are adding toppings, sprinkle them over the chocolate-covered strawberry before the chocolate sets.
  • Repeat the dipping process with all strawberries.
  • Once all strawberries are coated, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature and enjoy!

Notes

For a flavored chocolate, try using white chocolate or dark chocolate instead.
Adding a small amount of coconut oil to the chocolate can give it a nice sheen when it hardens.
These strawberries can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days for optimal freshness.
