Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper or wax paper
  • 1 double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 fork or toothpick
  • 1 cooling rack (optional)

Ingredients

  • 12 large fresh strawberries Rinsed and dried thoroughly.
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil Optional for a smoother finish.
  • as desired sprinkles, crushed nuts, or shredded coconut Optional for garnish.

Instructions

  • Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or wax paper.
  • In a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips over simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth, or melt in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
  • If desired, stir in 1 tablespoon of coconut oil for a smoother chocolate coating.
  • Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, coating it completely. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off.
  • Place the chocolate-covered strawberry on the prepared baking sheet and add garnishes if desired before the chocolate sets.
  • Once all strawberries are coated, set the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-30 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully hardened.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy your delicious chocolate-covered strawberries!

Notes

Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping, as water can cause the chocolate to seize.
For a variation, try using white chocolate or dark chocolate for different flavors.
Chocolate-covered strawberries are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
