Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 fork or spatula
  • 1 cookie sheet
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 baking wire rack or cooling rack optional
  • 1 double boiler optional for melting chocolate

Ingredients

  • 28.6 oz Oreo cookies 2 packages (14.3 oz each)
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 12 oz white chocolate chips or melting chocolate
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting chocolate
  • to taste sprinkles or crushed candy canes for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  • Crush the Oreo cookies in a mixing bowl until fine crumbs remain. You can use a food processor or place them in a resealable plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin.
  • Add the softened cream cheese to the crushed Oreo cookies. Mix with a fork or spatula until well combined. The mixture should be a thick dough-like consistency.
  • Using your hands, form small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) from the mixture and place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Once all the balls are formed, place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator for about 60 minutes to allow the truffles to firm up.
  • While the truffles are chilling, melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  • Dip each chilled truffle into the melted white chocolate, using a fork to lift it out and allowing excess chocolate to drip off. Return the truffle to the parchment-lined cookie sheet.
  • Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle holiday decorations like sprinkles or crushed candy canes over the truffles for a festive touch.
  • Repeat the dipping process with the semi-sweet chocolate chips for half of the truffles, if desired.
  • Allow the chocolate coating to set completely, which can take about 30 minutes at room temperature or a shorter time in the refrigerator.
  • Once set, serve the truffles on a platter or package them as holiday gifts.

Notes

For an even richer flavor, consider using flavored Oreos (like mint or pumpkin spice) for the truffles.
You can also experiment by adding extract flavors (like peppermint or vanilla) to the cream cheese mixture for an extra twist.
Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
