  • 1 Wooden spoon

Ingredients
  

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries About 3 cups.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest From about 1 orange.
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional.

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any stems or damaged berries.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the cranberries to the saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency, remove the saucepan from heat.
  • Stir in the orange zest and ground cinnamon, if using. Allow the sauce to cool.
  • Transfer the cranberry sauce to a serving bowl. It can be served warm, at room temperature, or chilled in the refrigerator.
