  • 1 frying pan or griddle
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 plate for serving

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread Preferably thick-sliced, like brioche or Texas toast.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk Can substitute with almond milk or any plant-based milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup powdered sugar For dusting.
  • 4 tablespoons butter For frying.
  • to taste maple syrup For serving.

Instructions

  • Begin by cutting each slice of bread into quarters, making small square pieces. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  • Heat a frying pan or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, allowing it to melt and coat the surface.
  • Dip each piece of cut bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are soaked but not too soggy.
  • Place the dipped pieces onto the hot frying pan, cooking in batches if necessary. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and slightly crispy.
  • Remove the cooked pieces and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  • Repeat the frying process, adding more butter as needed until all pieces are cooked.
  • Once done, sprinkle powdered sugar over the French Toast Corners and serve warm with maple syrup for dipping.

For extra flavor, consider adding nutmeg or orange zest to the egg mixture.
You can substitute the milk with almond milk or any plant-based milk for a dairy-free version.
