Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices bread white or whole grain
  • 4 slices cheese cheddar, American, or your choice
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions
 

  • Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place two slices of bread in the skillet, buttered side down, over medium heat.
  • Layer two slices of cheese on top of the bread in the skillet.
  • Place the remaining slices of bread on top of the cheese, buttered side up.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes or until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown.
  • Carefully flip the sandwiches using the spatula, and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes on the other side until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
  • Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute. Cut them in half, if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For a twist, consider adding tomato slices, bacon, or avocado for extra flavor. You can also experiment with different cheeses for varied taste experiences. Serve with a side of soup for a classic pairing. Enjoy!
