In a bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this mixture evenly over the salmon steaks and let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
In a mixing bowl, combine chopped jalapeños, diced tomatoes, diced red onion, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and set aside.
Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the marinated salmon steaks on the grill.
Grill the salmon for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it flakes easily with a fork and is cooked to your liking.
Remove the grilled salmon from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
Serve the salmon steaks hot, topped with the fresh jalapeño salsa.
