1 cutting board
1 serving platter
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 whole bell pepper, diced
- 4 whole green onions, chopped
- 1 head iceberg or butter lettuce, leaves separated
- to taste fresh cilantro, for garnish
- optional Sriracha sauce, for serving
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until combined and heated through.
Add the diced bell pepper and chopped green onions to the skillet. Stir well and cook for another minute, allowing the vegetables to warm slightly.
Remove the mixture from heat. Spoon the beef mixture into individual lettuce leaves.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with Sriracha sauce on the side, if desired.
Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots or mushrooms to the beef mixture.
You can use other types of lettuce if you prefer, such as romaine or butter lettuce.
This dish can also be served as a filling for tacos or in rice bowls for more variety.
