In a skillet, over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the diced onion to the skillet with the ground beef and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss it to combine with the beef and sauce mixture. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until heated through.
If using, stir in the fresh basil just before serving.
Serve warm, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
