Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 aluminum foil optional

Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette French baguette About 12 inches long.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter Softened (1 stick).
  • 4 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley Chopped (or 2 teaspoons dried parsley).
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional: for a spicy kick.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until the garlic is evenly distributed throughout the butter.
  • Slice the French baguette in half lengthwise, and place the halves cut side up on a baking sheet.
  • Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over the cut sides of the bread using a spoon or a spatula.
  • For extra crispiness, wrap the bread in aluminum foil, leaving the cut sides exposed.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the butter has melted.
  • Remove the garlic bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Cut them into individual slices if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

For a stronger garlic flavor, feel free to increase the amount of minced garlic.
You can add grated Parmesan or mozzarella cheese on top of the butter mixture before baking for a cheesy twist.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. Reheat in the oven for the best texture.
