Equipment

  • 1 large skillet or frying pan
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 wooden spoon or spatula
  • 1 serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 green onions chopped for garnish
  • cooked rice or lettuce leaves for serving

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  • Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour this mixture over the cooked beef.
  • Stir well to combine, allowing the sauce to coat the beef evenly.
  • Simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
  • Remove from heat. Serve the ground beef over cooked rice or in lettuce leaves, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

You can adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or fewer red pepper flakes.
For a complete meal, serve with steamed vegetables on the side.
