- 1 can chickpeas 15 oz, drained and rinsed.
- ¼ cup tahini
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice About 1 lemon.
- 1 clove garlic Minced.
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2-3 tablespoons water As needed for consistency.
- fresh parsley For garnish (optional).
- paprika For garnish (optional).
Place the drained and rinsed chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper into a food processor or blender.
Blend all the ingredients on high until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add 1-3 tablespoons of water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt, lemon juice, or cumin to suit your preference.
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl.
Optionally, drizzle a little olive oil on top and sprinkle with fresh parsley and paprika for a decorative finish.
Serve immediately with pita bread, fresh veggies, or as a spread.
For a more robust flavor, try roasting the garlic before adding it to the hummus.
You can enhance your hummus with additional ingredients like roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, or olives for a unique twist.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. The flavors may improve as it sits.
