1 large pot
1 skillet
1 colander
1 wooden spoon
1 measuring cups
1 measuring spoons
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 1 lb Italian sausage Removed from casing.
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic Minced.
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper To taste.
- Fresh parsley Chopped, for garnish.
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt, then add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the Italian sausage, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir in the Italian seasoning, and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow to cook for about 3-5 minutes, allowing it to slightly thicken.
Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet. Toss to combine everything well, then gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and creamy.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Plate the creamy pasta with sausage, garnishing with fresh chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
For an even richer flavor, you can add a splash of white wine to the sauce before adding the cream.
If you prefer a spicy kick, consider using spicy Italian sausage.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently in a skillet.
