- 400 grams spaghetti or pasta of your choice
- 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
- Salt to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)
- Grated Parmesan cheese optional
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
While the pasta is cooking, heat the extra virgin olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
If using, add the red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir for an additional minute.
Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the spaghetti in a colander.
Quickly add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil. Toss well to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time if the dish seems dry. Season with salt to taste.
Serve the pasta hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Feel free to adjust the amount of garlic according to your preference.
For a heartier dish, you can add sautéed vegetables such as spinach, cherry tomatoes, or mushrooms.
This dish can be enjoyed as is or paired with a protein like grilled chicken or shrimp.
