- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese plus more for serving

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
In the last 3 minutes of pasta cooking time, add the broccoli florets to the pot.
Once the pasta and broccoli are cooked, drain them in a colander and set aside.
In the same pot or a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
