Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 parchment paper optional
  • 1 grater
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 rubber spatula or wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ cup unsalted butter Melted (1 stick)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter For brushing
  • additional garlic powder For topping (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley until well combined.
  • Add the melted butter and shredded cheddar cheese to the dry ingredients. Mix gently with a rubber spatula.
  • Pour in the milk and stir softly until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix; it’s okay if the dough is slightly lumpy.
  • Using a spoon or ice cream scoop, drop generously sized mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  • While the biscuits are baking, mix the melted butter with a pinch of garlic powder.
  • Once the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and brush the tops with the melted garlic butter mixture for added flavor.

Notes

For a cheesy twist, you can add more cheddar cheese on top of the biscuits before baking.
These biscuits are best served warm, but they can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
Feel free to experiment with different herbs if you want a unique flavor.
