Equipment

  • 1 Instant Pot
  • 1 Measuring cups
  • 1 Measuring spoons
  • 1 Wooden spoon or spatula
  • 1 Rinsing bowl (optional)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white rice uncooked
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil optional
  • ½ teaspoon salt optional

Instructions

  • Rinse the rice under cold water in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  • Add the rinsed rice to the Instant Pot.
  • Pour in 2 ½ cups of water, then add olive oil and salt if desired. Stir well to combine.
  • Close the Instant Pot lid and turn the valve to the sealing position.
  • Select the 'Rice' setting, or manual pressure cook on high for 10 minutes.
  • Once the cooking time is complete, allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes before carefully switching the valve to the venting position to release any remaining steam.
  • Open the lid, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve warm.
  • For variations, consider adjusting water and cooking times for different types of rice such as brown rice.

Notes

For brown rice, adjust the water to 3 cups and increase the cooking time to 22 minutes with a natural release of 10 minutes.
Experiment with different seasonings and herbs to customize the flavor of your rice. Garlic powder, onion powder, or herbs like parsley can add a wonderful aroma to the dish.
Leftover rice can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
