Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 baking sheet or sheet pan (18x13 inches)
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 parchment paper
  • 1 wooden spoon or spatula
  • 1 oven mitts
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup assorted toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, etc.)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water and sprinkle the active dry yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until a dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour.
  • Grease the baking sheet with olive oil or line it with parchment paper. Press the dough into the sheet pan, stretching it to fit.
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about half an inch around the edges.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add your choice of assorted toppings.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  • Remove the sheet pan pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
  • Slice into squares and serve hot.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different cheeses and toppings to suit your taste preferences.
You can prepare the dough in advance and refrigerate it for later use.
For a crispy crust, bake the pizza directly on the oven rack for the last few minutes.
