Equipment

  • 1 medium saucepan
  • 1 wooden spoon or whisk
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 fine mesh strainer (optional)
  • 1 jar or container for storage

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced Approximately 300g.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar 200g.
  • 1 cup water 240ml.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice 15ml.

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and water. Stir the mixture gently to combine.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing strawberries to soften and release their juices.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat. Optionally, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or jar to remove the solids if you prefer a smooth syrup.
  • Stir in the lemon juice and let the syrup cool before transferring it to a jar or container for storage.
  • Store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

This syrup can be stored in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
If strawberries are out of season, you can use frozen strawberries; just make sure to thaw them first before cooking.
