Preheat that oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit so it’s ready for some cheesy goodness.
Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until it’s brown. Drain off the fat.
Add onion, green bell pepper, and garlic to the beef. Cook about 5 minutes until softened.
Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire, and seasoning salt. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Slice your French bread in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet, cut sides up.
Spoon the sloppy joe mix evenly over the bread.
Sprinkle the shredded Colby jack cheese evenly on top.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
Remove from oven, cool slightly, then slice and serve.
Notes
Wrap leftovers tightly and store in the fridge up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results. Freeze individual slices for meal prep convenience.
