  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • ½ cup Onion chopped
  • ¼ cup Green bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Minced garlic
  • 15 oz Tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Seasoning salt
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 2 cups Colby jack cheese shredded

  • Preheat that oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit so it’s ready for some cheesy goodness.
  • Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until it’s brown. Drain off the fat.
  • Add onion, green bell pepper, and garlic to the beef. Cook about 5 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire, and seasoning salt. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  • Slice your French bread in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet, cut sides up.
  • Spoon the sloppy joe mix evenly over the bread.
  • Sprinkle the shredded Colby jack cheese evenly on top.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
  • Remove from oven, cool slightly, then slice and serve.

Notes

Wrap leftovers tightly and store in the fridge up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results. Freeze individual slices for meal prep convenience.
