Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar Feel free to adjust the sweetness according to your taste.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor, consider mixing in a pinch of cinnamon or a splash of almond extract.
  • ¼ cup water Optional, for a thinner sauce.

Instructions
 

  • Wash the strawberries thoroughly. Hull and slice them into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  • Over medium heat, stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves and the strawberries start to release their juices, about 3-4 minutes.
  • If you prefer a thinner topping, add the water gradually while stirring until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the strawberry mixture cool for a few minutes.
  • Transfer the topping to a serving bowl and serve it warm or let it chill in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

This topping can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
