1 large skillet
1 wooden spoon
1 baking dish
1 set measuring cups
1 set measuring spoons
- 1 pound Italian sausage mild or spicy, casings removed
- 1 can cannellini beans 15 oz, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- ½ cup cream cheese softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Add the drained cannellini beans to the skillet and mash them lightly with the back of the spoon, leaving some whole for texture.
Stir in the marinara sauce, softened cream cheese, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and the cream cheese has melted into the mixture.
Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the dip for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve warm with crusty bread or tortilla chips.
You can substitute the Italian sausage with turkey or chicken sausage for a lighter version.
Feel free to add sautéed onions or bell peppers for added flavor and texture.
This dip can be made ahead of time; just reheat in the oven before serving.
