  • 4 lbs Pork shoulder boneless
  • 2 cups Apple cider
  • 1 cup Pomegranate juice fresh or store-bought
  • ½ cup Bourbon
  • ½ cup Ketchup
  • ¼ cup Brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper
  • 8 Slider buns preferably soft
  • 1 cup Coleslaw optional topping
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil for searing
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon Cayenne pepper optional for heat
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 Yellow onion sliced
  • ½ cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon Honey

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Season the pork shoulder with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear pork on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Transfer pork to a roasting pan or slow cooker.
  • In a bowl, mix apple cider, pomegranate juice, bourbon, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, honey, and spices.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the pork. Add sliced onions and garlic cloves. Add water as needed to keep moist.
  • Cover and roast in the oven for 8 hours and 10 minutes or until pork is tender and easily shredded.
  • Remove pork from oven, shred with forks, and mix with sauce.
  • Serve shredded pork on slider buns topped with coleslaw if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat gently and add extra sauce if needed.
