Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 sheet pan
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 mixing spoon
  • 1 baking sheets

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 6 cups tortilla chips
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional)
  • 1 cup guacamole for serving
  • 1 cup sour cream for serving
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if required.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning and follow the packet instructions, adding a splash of water if needed to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • On a sheet pan, spread out the tortilla chips evenly. Top generously with the seasoned ground beef, black beans, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Place the sheet pan in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and drizzle salsa on top. If desired, add jalapeño slices for extra heat.
  • Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve immediately with guacamole and sour cream on the side.

Notes

Feel free to customize your nachos with other toppings like diced tomatoes, sliced olives, or corn.
To make it vegetarian, substitute the ground beef with a plant-based meat alternative or sautéed mushrooms.
To keep nachos crispy, serve them immediately after baking. Enjoy!
